A verba – estimada em perto de seis mil milhões de euros – foi retirada, segundo as autoridades judiciais angolanas, ao erário público, de forma ilícita.
A Procuradoria-Geral da República pretende recuperar a quantia nos tribunais, tendo intentado meia centena de acções contra pessoas singulares e colectivas não especificadas.
Treze desses processos foram entregues no Tribunal Supremo, por envolverem entidades “que gozam de foro especial”.
Durante o ano aquela instituição abriu 170 processos de inquérito por suspeita dos crimes de corrupção.
No mesmo período, o Estado angolano recuperou acções, assim como bens móveis e imóveis avaliados em mais de quatro mil milhões de euros.
A Procuradoria de Angola tem já, sob o seu controlo, cerca de mil e 700 declarações de bens, de gestores e agentes públicos, obrigados – nos termos da lei – a procederem ao depósito dos valores em causa nos cofres públicos.
O Presidente angolano estabeleceu o combate à corrupção, nepotismo e impunidade como eixos centrais do seu mandato.
